In Memory of DJ Romano
On January 28, 2022, we lost a valued member of our community DJ Romano in a tragic accident. DJ was a tremendous person who would do anything for anyone and whose smile and positive vibes could light up a room. He was an elite 3 sport athlete at NFA and later went on to study and play football at SUNY Cortland where he also was the star of the show.
DJ was one of the best athletes to ever come through the youth and high school program. His confidence and swagger on the field were undeniable and he will be sadly missed. DJ started his football career in our youth tackle program. DJ was currently working for the town of Newburgh Police Department protecting and giving back in a positive way to the community he loved. DJ leaves behind his wife Kaitlyn and two daughters Adrianna and Alina.

Romano Family Sponsors 2024 season
The Romano family graciously invited our league to be part of the 3rd annual DJ Romano Football Golf Outing. DJ began his football journey in our program, and two of our coaches and board members, Previn Pearson and Matt Haughton, were close friends of DJ and his family. We were honored to support this meaningful event.
Our treasurer, Greg Roe, worked closely with the Romano family to help secure sponsors and contributions for the fundraiser.
On September 21, 2024, during halftime, the Romano family presented our league with a generous donation of $7,000 from the Daniel "DJ" Romano Memorial Fund. As a token of our appreciation, the Goldbacks presented the Romano family with a framed jersey featuring DJ’s name and number on the back.
We are deeply grateful for their support and remain committed to honoring DJ’s memory within our organization.
